If you’ve been following our YouTube channel, you will know that we usually have members of the Orange Insoles family on to talk about different topics such as health, fitness & footwear. In one of our episodes, we decided to answer the questions that are most frequently asked by our customers. Read on to find a compilation of those questions while also going a bit deeper into each answer.
How do I know which insole is right for me?
It starts with the shoes you plan to wear them in the most.. If your shoes have a removable liner, go with the Orange Full for everyday/work boots or Orange Sport™ for athletic footwear.
If the liner doesn’t come out, or your shoes are tighter (like dress shoes or skates), the Orange Light or Orange 3/4 sit right on top of the liner without taking up too much room.

Should I wear them in both shoes if only one foot hurts?
Yes—always wear your insoles as a pair. Even if pain shows up in just one foot, insoles are designed to align your whole body, not just cushion a sore spot. Wearing only one can throw off your balance and cause new issues in your knees, hips, or back, much like driving a car with uneven suspension. The only exception is if a medical professional prescribes a single insert for a specific condition.
Do I need to trim them?
No trimming required—Orange Insoles are true to size and based on your shoe size true shoe sizes (from women’s 5.5 to men’s 15+), so they’re designed to slip right into your shoes without scissors or guesswork. Unlike many brands that only offer size ranges and make you cut them down, Orange Insoles fit correctly out of the box. Not to mention, we make exchanges a breeze!
How do I clean them?
To freshen up your Orange Insoles, just use mild dish soap, a soft brush, and cold water, then let them air dry. Avoid soaking them or tossing them in the washer and dryer, since too much water or heat can damage the foam and fabric. For a full step-by-step guide, check out our tips on cleaning Orange Insoles
What’s that “bump” I feel behind the ball of my foot?
That small lift is the metatarsal pad, a built-in feature of every Orange Insole designed to sit just behind the ball of your foot. It allows your forefoot to spread naturally, redistributes pressure, and helps relieve ball-of-foot pain, bunions, and joint stress. While it may feel unusual at first, most people quickly adjust and appreciate the added support—one of the key differences between Orange Insoles and flat shoe liners.
Will these help with heel pain or plantar fasciitis?
Absolutely. Many issues like heel pain and plantar fasciitis stem from misalignment. By correcting pronation and supporting your arch, Orange Insoles help reduce strain through your heel, arch, Achilles, and even your knees.

How long do they last?
On average, Orange Insoles last about one to two shoe lives—for runners, that’s around 300–500 miles, while people on their feet all day in work boots can usually expect close to a year before the cushioning starts to compress. The rigid support structure lasts longer than the foam, but if you notice less rebound, flattened cushioning, or new aches, it’s time to replace them so your alignment and comfort stay on track.
What’s your return policy?
We offer a 60-day guarantee. Break them in slowly (an hour or two a day at first). If they don’t feel right, we’ll help you exchange or return them.
Do you make insoles for heels or dress shoes?
Yes—our Orange Light insole is specially designed for shoes with less space, like heels, flats, dress shoes, or even athletic cleats. Made with compressed foam, it slips into tighter-fitting footwear without crowding your toes, while still giving you the support and cushioning missing from standard liners. It won’t turn stilettos into sneakers, but it can make long workdays, nights out, or formal events far more comfortable.
What if I have wide feet?
You’re covered. Many wide-footed customers love the Orange Full, but if your toe box is tight, the Orange 3/4 keeps the fit comfortable.
