Myth: Softer Insoles are Always Better

That's right, softer isn’t always better when it comes to insoles.  A soft or gel insole can provide cushioning and absorbs the natural shock experienced in each step. While this is true, it typically does not support our arch or the muscles in our feet.  Imagine standing on a couch.  Your foot has plenty of padding beneath it, but it wavers because there is nothing but soft cushioning to support it.  In a similar way, a soft insole also lacks the support your feet need.

It is common to experience misalignment through flat feet or high arches.  A variety of issues with feet, ankles, knees, hips and even back can be attributed to this.  In many of the injury articles featured on our website, added arch support is a recommended treatment. A soft insole typically does not have the support that misaligned feet need.

Different from a soft insole, all Orange Insoles have a contoured arch and deep heel cup that aim to correct alignment and provide support.  Furthermore, the supportive arch helps to distribute body weight more evenly across the foot.  The Orange full and 3/4 length insoles have a layer of resilient foam that provides the cushioning needed to absorb the natural shock of walking or running.  Unlike many other insoles, Orange provides a strategic balance of cushioning and support.
